A film-used Heuer Monaco is set to auction at Sotheby’s in its New York auction this December. One of six Heuer Monaco watches provided for Steve McQueen in Le Mans, this example is anticipated to fetch at least $500,000 – it is the first time this watch has been publicly available for sale and features a racing postscript. Updates to come on how much it sells for!
Citizen is celebrating its centennial with the release of a special limited-edition pocket watch that reinvents the concept of the company’s first release: a pocket watch with the CITIZEN name. The watch bears many of the original styling cues of its namesake, but it has been enhanced with “electroforming, clear coating, and polishing” to create a dial pattern that resembles the build-up of snow to suggest the sensation of time gone by.
For those who like to push their timepieces to the limits, Spinnaker recently unveiled their latest Piccard Skeleton Automatic, a deep-dive watch with water resistance up to 55 ATM and Swiss Super-LumiNova for optimal readability. Bearing a $550 retail price – one dollar per meter of water resistance – this sleek piece is a strong contender for divers seeking form and function.
